Releases for May 2008
16th June, 2008A/B Project - Another Time EP
Label: Mondo RecordsReleased: 26th May, 2008
The Icone Remix is a massive trancer with euphoric/uplifting synth work introduced right from the beginning. But if you thought this is it, then behold the break down which brings in a colossal melody that just hits the right spot! The word "anthem" is etched all over this tune. The Original Mix is decent as well but lacks the power that the Icone Remix delivers.
Mark Norman - Bazarus
Label: Magik MuzikReleased: 23rd May, 2008
Mark Norman delivers another fantastic lush trancer with weird but catchy female vocals. They intensify in the break down and that's where the fun really begins. The tune goes to completely different level and then it's hands in the air euphoria!
Cosmic Gate featuring Roxanne Emery - A Day That Fades
Label: Black Hole RecordingsReleased: 23rd May, 2008
Although the release contains a total of 11 different mixes by 4 artists, I'll talk about the 'Cosmic Gate's AM 2 PM Mix' here. At first listen you will be somehow reminded of Motorcycle's "As The Rush Comes" owing to the similar bass line and Roxanne's vocal talent. But yeah, this tune can absolutely stand on it's own and it's really interesting to see how the tune evolves into a masterpiece. Inpetto's remix is nothing new to look out for - although, their typical Deadmau5 style beats & synth work do give a different dimension to the track.
First State - Sierra Nevada
Label: In Trance We TrustReleased: 21st May, 2008
First State's new single from their album 'Time Frame'. A fast paced high energy track is what it comes out as at the start. But then it takes a totally different route once the break down ascends. A familiar melody is introduced which couples up on the already built-up transgression of sounds. Adding to this some Asian vocals in the background just does magic with the way this tune will make you dance!
Adam Nickey - Shift
Label: AnjunabeatsReleased: 19th May, 2008
This track can easily qualify as the best use of a vocal work in recent times. The way Adam Nickey mashes the female vocals on top of the anthemic melody is just brilliant. Supported by all the major jocks out there, this one really puts a shine on the Anjunabeats catalogue. Don't even think of missing this gem.
Sander van Doorn - Pura Vida / Sushi
Label: NebulaReleased: 19th May, 2008
Make way for some SvD style tech trance. "Pura Vida" actually goes mellow somewhere in between and you can hear amazing xylophone sounds which make way for the techy beats that Doorn is known for. On the other hand, "Sushi" is way offbeat and doesn't really intrigue the listener much!
Heatbeat - Caledonia / Spindash
Label: SoundpiercingReleased: 19th May, 2008
Brilliant new stuff by Heatbeat. Sounds of thunder and rain are introduced which lead way for the trippy synths which are an instant delight for your aural senses. They grow more and more on you and take you for an enjoyable ride in it's full length. Impressive stuff!
Mike Foyle - Pandora
Label: ArmindReleased: 6th May, 2008
The Blizzard Mix is the one to watch out for. A fantastic revamp of the original, this one will really trigger those feel-good chemicals in you – especially the twinkling synths courtesy of the Norwegian duo. A fantastic trancer which will captivate you on an emotional level. Just brilliant!
Prospekt - Electrofly
Label: Lost LanguageReleased: 5th May, 2008
Nitrous Oxide deliver a dance floor stormer with their remix of "Electrofly". Euphoric and very melodic, this is the kind of tune that will go on and on in your mind. Very catchy and uplifting!
