In Search Of Sunrise 6 - Ibiza
7th September, 2007
Released: 18th September, 2007
Label: Songbird
It's that time of the year again when Tiësto releases his next level of ISOS series. The sixth version is inspired from the vibes of Ibiza, thus entitled 'In Search Of Sunrise 6: Ibiza'. The album was finally released globally on 18th September, 2007 under Songbird label of Blackhole Recordings.
After listening to it for almost a week, I can say that this album is going to stay, Tiësto has introduced some unforgettable melodies in ISOS 6. The album opens an emergence path for the imminent talented producers. Without fastening our seat belts, let's relax and set off on a dream voyage to Ibiza...
CD-1
CD-1 brings an ambient atmosphere through Es Vedra's "La Hacienda". The sea rumbles form a nice backdrop as blissful chords bring up the shoreline mood, giving me a captivating feeling that the heaven has shores around it.
The intro breaks way through Glenn Morrison's "Contact", superbly matched by Tiësto to alter the Balearic mood into progressive ambient. The track's mystical pitch plunges along with a recurring synth that later lifts into a content tune. Probably, audiences would be wondering why Club Life's playlists showed Deadmau5 & Glenn Morrison for the artist credits... Well, the track also stands as Deadmau5's co-production.
Tiësto introduces "Don't Belong" by Andy Duguid featuring Leah as the first vocal track of the album, a sunny, easy listening track backed up by Leah's warm vocals. English producer Andy Duguid keeps the whole affair delicate and well balanced; the bass line and vocals surround a soothing effect on my mood.
Slowly, the music drifts on to "Vice [Sydenham Dub]" by Solaris Heights. The track sets a perfect example of what I call a summer track. Anton Fielding and Bryan Robson of Solaris Heights craft quality house music with an added Balearic remix by Jerome Sydenham himself. The tiny reverbs with deep vibes as a backdrop draws the melody within - a swift aspect of beautiful pianism changes the track's flow skillfully.
The following track needs no introduction - DJ Shah's child Global Experience with "Madras" works both as a great club track and the guitars are always there to fill up the classical Balearic feel to it. DJ Shah has used Indian vocal samples to produce this amazing floor filler. The beats and echoing vocals get better by beautiful guitar strums. We can state "Madras" as Gobal Experience's massive hit till date.
Another justice to the album is Leonid Rudenko's "Summerfish [Scandall Sunset On Ibiza Mix]", the grooviest of the lot. Nothing like Trance music but a complete electro-funk package. The track has a nice bass with flowing piano and some 'on the beach' electronic effects. Be prepared to party with all the sea creatures you can imagine listening to this track!
In Clear View featuring Jessica's "Tell Me", Jessica maintains a mellow yet sensuous feel in her vocals. The melody is very mystifying; the wobbles buzz on the dark lines. Perfect for a night stroll along the shores under the full moon's gleam. The music sets off passions in this one!
Out of the mood, Tiësto blasts off yet another Balearic track by The Veil Kings - "Searching For Truth". This time the atmosphere is very serene, as a peaceful and charming melody takes over with rushing guitars. The track gets interesting in the end where the music turns house and you can shake a one or two on this tune for sure!
Sounding tech, Ohmna's "The Sun'll Shine [Sunrise Mix]" is a bit odd to be called a beach track but it is one. Continuous breaks and releases blend in with hopping percussions and snares very well. I am not sure whether the laurelled vocals unify with the music or not, but overall the production is magnificent. You can't stop tapping your foot on this one.
With an electrifying bass line, Moonbeam's "See The Difference Inside [Inside Mix]" holds an eccentric feel to it. The vocals are done by Russian artists and sound very grim. There are sweet melodic tunes involved in it and the chorus of the vocalists produces a great duet.
Tiësto under his Allure alias creates the old magic with Julie Thompson's vocals! "Somewhere Inside Me" by Allure featuring Julie Thompson is Tiësto's distinctive production style. The track has a smooth progression with epical synths and the most awaited acoustic break down of guitars. This track is prone to be loved by anyone in the very first listen!
Even when you are not out of Allure's hangover, Tiësto has to offer "High Glow" by Taxigirl, a trancing track in true sense. Jes' vocal sends me on a trip, more like a dub track's vocals has been elongated. The bass line sustains the same tempo till the end of track. Continuous exhaled vocals are distorted to give this track a chilly feel while the obscured synths work their magic on us. This track holds the potential to be on loop on your mp3 player 24x7!
One of the greatest tracks of CD-1 is Reeves featuring Alanah's "Lonely", a very touching production with a piano opening. Gita Bakradze's vocals are heartfelt in Andy Duguid's second featured production here. The succession and feel of this track is very house and the bass line caters to it remarkably.
I'm awestruck by Imogen Heap's "Hide and Seek [Tiësto's In Search of Sunrise Remix]". This is my personal favourite from ISOS 6. I can't imagine how an acapella sound can be turned into an absolute Trance beauty! Vocals are like a saga being told, two different vocal pitches work up the tune; at one point it feels like a chorus is singing while the other time a beautiful and touching female vocal emerges. Words fail me for this one!
CD-2
CD-2 starts with Steve Forte Rio's "A New Dawn" - a very downtempo track that has been perfectly titled. This tune works magic when heard a couple of minutes before dawn!
Nic Chagall's "What You Need [NC's In Love With Prog Mix]" is nothing like the hard dub re-edit version we loved. In fact, you expect the same break down as the dub version but this one will surprise you with it's bouncy bass intro for the break down.
Marc Marzenit's "Trozitos De Navidad [Primavera Remix]" has thrived to fright me with string pad effects. Tiësto features a dark track in his ISOS compilations, the track has bass, and the song has a cheering portion running through it. The dark and cheering synths merge mutually and introduce to me a new facet of melody.
The mood of Trozitos De Navidad continues with John Dahlback's "Don't Speak". Fascinating work on the cutout digitalized female vocals and moderate work on the breaking synth makes listening an out of the world experience. I feel alienated and good whenever I listen to this track.
Deadmau5 is the man flooding hits after hits at the moment. Tiësto featured his track "Arguru" that reminds me of SvD's style! All the same, this track has it's own tech feel. Acidic synths smidge up the beats and the squashing bass line makes the track sound a standout!
Tiësto changes the mood by introducing First State featuring Anita Kelsey's "Falling", pure vocal ecstasy and a flawless production. Anita is known to give sexy vocals and is any producers dream vocalist. Ralph Barendse and Sander Van Dien under their First State guise have done a great job, very sweet melodies and exhaling chilled out vocals bind up the atmosphere, perfect romantic atmosphere I must say!
From what I noticed, ISOS 6 has a great set of vocal tracks and it would be partial if I don't mention Jonas Steur featuring Jennifer Rene's "Fall To Pieces". this track equals any vocal production in this album. Two big names, Jonas Steur and Jennifer Rene get together for a warm production. Groovy Trancing synths and Jennifer's bold vocal tone complete the massive track which is a hit these days!
Back to the king - Tiësto remixed Jes' own track from her album 'Disconnect'. "Imagination [Tiësto Remix]" takes the original to the next level. The new melodies added to the arid vocals stimulatingly send me some imaginative whirls! The ripping bass line simply turns up the listening experience into dance mayhem. Check for yourselves!
Tom Cloud's "Mercury Room" can be labeled as a clean progressive Trance track of this album. Tiësto takes us into an intense trip with this brilliant production. There is a leading tune and a rhythmic synth revolving around the bass line. The more I listen to it, the more I love it!
Following the lineup of progressive trance, we have Marcus Schossow with "Chase My Rabbit" - a rather strangely titled track. Schossow introduces some flange effects in the start letting the music grow on dark, tunnel notes.
The twenty fifth track of ISOS 6 is the phenomenal "Reflect" by Maor Levi. Produced by a teenager, this track stands tall. Since it was released way before being featured in ISOS 6, this track has already done the much needed damage. The grinding bass line with icy vocals will set your dance shoes flaming! Ask the clubbers!
Progression's track "Technophobia" was my best of ISOS 5. Now, Tiësto featured Progression's "Different Day, Different Light" and I think it's an amazing track carrying their usual style but in a more new way! The track has a very happy feel to it with dance basics. Hard beats continue to ruffle your woofers while synth repercussion keeps occurring with mystic tonal plummets.
Jedidja's "Dancing Water" is Tiësto's fine production for the water element. His alias of Jedidja may not be known to many but the track is great. Epical sounds continue to power the beats and both set out well. Just after a very restrained break down the track catches up the tempo up and flowing!
Tiësto's great compilation ends in the form of "Breathing" by D'Alt Vila - a very short outro to this album that makes us want more. This track is emotional, very serene and signifies an exodus in my mind. A very beautiful and calming tune indeed sans beats and has a silence to offer through sounds...
The album is a mix of various genres, it seems Tiësto indeed took us on a journey from deep sounds to dancing and groovy tracks. We all will wait for ISOS 7, desperately.
