Jaytech - Everything Is OK

Released: 23rd June, 2008
Label: Anjunadeep

Just 22 years of age, James Cayzer aka Jaytech is one of the hottest producers in the EDM scene at this moment and is responsible for massive hits such as "Spacelift", "Pepe's Garden" and "Deadlock". His unique style of Progressive House, Tech and wicked bass lines can be easily recognized. 'Everything Is OK', his debut artist album, consists of a good mix of lush melodic house tunes, slow and soothing vocals and extremely groovy bass lines.

The album kicks off with a splendid tune called "Nighthawk", which is the perfect track to start the album. It features a soft beat and a synth loop in the background and is very soothing and melodic. Though, only 3 minutes in length, you would certainly want to put this ch00n on loop.

Then follows "Highway Rockers". This tune has a pretty good winged guitar as the lead melody. This track is not the best from the album but not the worst either.

"Solero" is a funky tune with lovely vocal slices. It has a groovy feel to it. The track perfectly defines Progressive House. It builds itself up to 4:22 then we experience the break with the vocals still going. Definitely one of the best from the album.

"Pepe's Garden" needs no introduction. This track has been played in virtually all the big radio shows and supported by big DJs such as Andy Moor, Above & Beyond etc. The main beat of this track is a whoop sound which, after the break, matches perfectly with the deep bass line to create a filthy, funky tune.

'Deep and muscular Trance' as stated in Jaytech's blog about "Pyramid" stands true. "Pyramid" features a wicked bass line and has two break downs. The first break introduces a beautiful bass line, very soothing. After the second break, we get to hear an awesome synth lead melody which combines with the bass line of the first break to produce a very soothing, yet groovy tune. A masterpiece, my favourite from the album.

Then comes "Gray Horizon" - this track is perfectly soothing right from the synths to the bass line and has vocals from Melody Gough. This track is good but could have been perfect if the vocals were much softer. Awesome work from Jaytech nevertheless.

Then follows "Natsukashi". It is a Japanese word which means "feeling nostalgic" or "fond/sweet memory". Though this track doesn't make me feel nostalgic at all, it sure does make me wanna dance. It is a groovy tune with a break beat sort of synth lead and a catchy bass line.

"Groove Nova" is one of the reasons why you should buy this album. It features a wicked beat and a groovy bass line. It has a very powerful feel to it. The vocals complement the beats and really blend well with it and sounds really great after the break down at 3:43. Be careful with this ch00n though, it can kill your ears!

"Vela" has a heavy and housey bass line. The tune builds itself up till 3:00 then the break follows up with a deep bass line which is uplifting, then follows a catchy lead melody which combines with the original bass line to produce a marvelous track.

"Special X" is nothing special to me. Though it has a good bass line, the lead melody doesn't go quiet well with it. Sure it is groovy but not too melodic.

"Deadlock" is one of the best works from Jaytech. This track has an extreme bass line and wicked sick beats! The beats and the bass combine with the lead melody at 2:20 which then builds itself for the break at 3:18, which then slowly emerges out of it with a filthy groovy tune! Best heard at full volume.

"Drive" is the last track from the album. It is the second one in the album with vocals from Melody Gough. It starts with a piano sequence and then the techy vocals kick in, follows the breakbeats after almost half of the track. This track is soft and melodic, perfect way to end the album!

In a nutshell 'Everything Is OK' is an excellent debut album from Jaytech and is his stepping stone in entering the next level of a really promising career. 8.5/10 from me.
